Personal Statement
My name is Sara Devoe and I will graduate high school in 2017. I am 5'2" and weigh 120 lbs. I have played every position - goalie, attack, midfield and have recently transitioned to defense. I feel that this gives me an advantage as I am skilled at all positions and am a versatile player. I have been playing lacrosse since 5th grade. In 7th grade I was defensive player of the year for my school modified team and I was captain in 8th grade. In 9th grade I was one of our team's leading scorers and a leader in assists. I was awarded the "4 D" award by my coach. This award represents determination, dignity, desire and dedication. I feel that as a player and a student I personify these qualities. I am dedicated to the sport, my team and my school. I have the desire to push myself to be a better student athlete. I am determined to make a difference in my community and I have been a leader on the field, as a coach mentor for my club program, and as a teammate. I wear my uniform with dignity and I take pride in the sport of lacrosse and my accomplishments on and off the field.
I would be an excellent candidate at the college lacrosse level because first and foremost, I am a good student with a 3.5 average my freshman year. I am currently enrolled in AP classes in English and Global Social Studies for my upcoming sophomore year. I am in the choral program and have scored extremely well in the NYSSMA choral competition receiving a perfect score in 2014 and very high scores in 2013. I volunteer at the Bethlehem Youth Court as a youth juror and am a volunteer in my community through my church.
I am also a well rounded athlete. I not only play lacrosse but I run track and will play field hockey in the fall. I am always looking to better myself as an athlete and I train and compete year round.
I feel that my commitment to the sport, my commitment to my studies, my determination to excel and my strong work ethic makes me a excellent candidate for any college lacrosse program.
