Personal Statement
I believe in hard work, tenacity and perseverance in accomplishing my goals and aspirations! I have taken on every life challenge with a positive attitude and commitment to be the best that I can be, in my studies and athletic endeavors! I have used disappointment or obstacles in life as a challenge, to work that much harder and motivate me to build upon my skills and character! I have studied music and dance from a very early age, committed to studying and playing 4 instruments with competence: piano, clarinet, saxophone and bassoon. I have continued my musical lessons, studying under mentorship with the Bassoon professor at Portland State University and Chair with the Oregon Symphony. I was actively involved in my high school band and have received solo invitations for the musical theater productions! I have also dedicated this level of commitment and hard work in my athletic preparation, having a tremendous love and respect for the game of lacrosse. I feel that lacrosse utilizes some of the basic agility and endurance skills I developed as a dancer, taking ballet, jazz and tap from a very young age. I have played competitive lacrosse for 6 years now and have developed a strong passion, dedication and maturity for the sport. I have overcome many major medical and life challenges but continue to live my life in gratitude, choosing to use my experiences to make me a better student and athlete! My long term goal is to use my passion for lacrosse, athletics and academic abilities to complete graduate work in physical therapy or kinsiology.
