Personal Statement
Making the starting varsity lacrosse team as a freshman was just the beginning of an amazing spring, which included an undefeated regular season and a tough lose in the state finals. My love of lacrosse started in the fourth grade when I joined the local youth league, which was a new recreational sport to our area. The first two years not only did I learn the sport of lacrosse; I also learned how to be a team player, so when my team needed a goalie I stepped up and into the goal. To my surprise my skills in goal made my team feel confident in their play, even though my heart and passion for lacrosse was on the field as a defender.
Since the fourth grade I split game play between goalie and defense but I knew that I would have to make a choice in high school. On the first day of tryouts freshman year, I decided to go with my heart – defense. As the season unfolded I found that my time in goal has actually benefitted me by developing my skills to be able to read the field defensively and anticipate attackers shots and movements. Looking at my future, I am anxiously waiting for lacrosse season so our to school can finish the quest for the state championship. I feel that my strength, commitment, drive and determination will make me an integral part of any college or university lacrosse program and I look forward to the opportunity to be both an accomplished student and lacrosse defender.
