Personal Statement

Hello, My name is Carol Allen. I am a Junior attending Ensworth High School in Nashville, TN. I am 5'4'', 120 pounds, and in very good physical condition. I am looking for a school with a strong academic tradition where I will also have the opportunity to play lacrosse. I am open to schools of different size and location. At this point, I don't want to limit myself since the perfect school may be in a place I did not think to look. I have been playing lacrosse for five years and have loved every moment! I have been working hard to improve my skills with the plan to, one day, contribute on a college lacrosse team. I am known to be a very coachable player. I am also known as a hard worker and enjoy rising to any challenge which will make me a better player and ultimately help my team. My desire to improve led me to join the TNLax travel team (coach Megan Clark) and attend several camps and tournaments this past summer. My high school team (coach Meg Freeman)won the state championship my freshman year and placed second, by one goal, my sophomore year. During my sophomore year, I was named all-state and all-region for Tennessee. I was also named to the Women's Division National Tournament Team for Tennessee. My club team has also participated in many tournaments in the Eastern region of the country. Team sports is one of my greatest passions and lacrosse is my favorite sport! Academics are very important to me. I maintain a 3.8 average and take the most challenging A.P. and Honors courses. I play volleyball (setter)and am very active in FCA and the Ensworth service club. I have been very active in mission work (local and abroad) and sing in my church youth group vocal ensemble. I am looking for an academically challenging, yet creative, school where the students are interested in learning. I also desire a school that is interested in having an impact in the surrounding community. I am currently undecided about my major, but I am very interested in History and Government. My leadership skills, energy and enthusiasm allow me to have a positive and encouraging impact on my lacrosse team. I always try to bring an optimistic attitude rather than become negative or frustrated. Finally, I am competitive. I want to win! I love the bond that athletic teams provide and I look forward to knowing the girls on my future team.
