My introduction to lacrosse was late since I only started to play lacrosse my freshmen year in high school but that did not stop me from diving straight in. Lacrosse has changed my life completely, giving me confidence and focus both academically and athletically. I was able to take this confidence into my first DECA competition, where I was able to qualify for state. It was also at DECA I discovered I wanted to go into a career in either marketing or advertising.
I am a good candidate for a team because I am an excellent team player. For example on my high school soccer team they needed a goalie and I stepped up to take the position. It was a very new experience getting balls kicked very fast towards my face but by the end of the season I was voted most improved by my fellow teammates. Similar to soccer, I am constantly striving to improve my lacrosse skills to be the best player that I can be.
I may be different from other recruits because I have a fun and humorous personality. I help keep the locker room light and relaxed but on the field I am all business. The unique aspect in lacrosse for me is that I learned lacrosse right handed but I am normally left hand dominant. At the time it was easier to learn right handed. One thing I have noticed about being left handed and playing lacrosse right handed is that once I get a good warm up on my left hand it feels almost natural like playing with my right hand. I have played soccer since the 1st grade and feel that gives me well-rounded field sports skills combined with excellent footwork.
Being on a college lacrosse team would give me a chance to maximize my lacrosse potential. It would give me lasting memories and life experiences to build upon. I want to be on a college lacrosse team because I cannot imagine my life without lacrosse. I feel like it would be a missed opportunity in my life not to play lacrosse in college. The bonds with my teammates will allow me to form lifelong friendships. For me to be able to have a chance to learn and play with all different skills from all over the country would be more than a dream. I want to fully immerse myself in the college atmosphere and experience. I cannot think of a better way then to play for that school; having the schools name on my jersey would be a true honor.
