Hello College Recruiters!
I'm Isabelle (Izzy) Davis. I am 17 and a Senior at Curtis High School in University Place, WA. I have always wanted to go to college. Before I could walk, my parents drilled into me the importance of an advanced education. Not until I was in elementary school did I realize that I could play sports AND get an education in college. This has been my focus since that moment.
Sports have always been a large part of my life; from the time I was 3 years old and playing on my first Indoor Soccer team. My parents have encouraged me to participate in any activity that I wanted; I have played: Soccer, Competitive Cheer Leading (Select), Fast-Pitch (T-Ball through Fast-pitch), Swim Team (HS and Club), Water Polo (Club), Lacrosse (HS and Club).
I found Lacrosse in 2012 when the club team in my community hosted a camp. Lacrosse is new to the Pacific Northwest. I fell in love with the sport. It combined my 2 favorite things: running and shooting. It was like soccer, but with a stick! I didn't know the rules, but I knew I wanted to play. Our first year was tough, we lost most of our games. It was hard and well worth the effort. We all came back the second season and won all but 2 games!
My success was due to hard work, dedication and a confidence that I could do anything I put my mind to. I believe: "If it is to be, it is up to me." I give my coaches and teammates everything I can to be the best player every day and to support them.
I have continued to be a starter on the Varsity Team and we competed in the state playoffs in 2016 and 2017 where we were eliminated in the 2nd round. We are definitely going all the way this year. I worked hard all season and finished as Top Scorer! I was also excited to learn that the 3rd scorer on the team was a teammate that I worked with during practices and taught her how to better her shooting skills. I continue to practice on my own by running in my community, weight lifting and shooting on my personal lacrosse goal. I also attended an overnight Lacrosse Camp this summer.
This year, I will continue to increase my shooting average and assistant coaching my little sister's lacrosse team.
I am active in the community; I love being a youth coach on my sister's rec lacrosse team in addition to teaching youth gymnastics at the YMCA where I previously volunteered. These are fun and active ways to be involved and help little kids get active and healthy. I am an accomplished barista and volunteer my time at my church sponsored coffee stand a few Sundays a month.
