Personal Statement
Crew came into my life my freshman year of high school and I had never really known what crew was, but I dove into it head first. In that year I broke the freshman 2k record for my team and made it to the varsity four boat by Stotesbury. My sophomore year however there were no seniors on the team, and being the top athlete, I took on the unofficial role of the team leader. Every year since I have set new records and continue to push myself and my teammates. My teammates have become my family and that's my favorite part of the 'crew world'. Since I started crew, I could see myself going far with it and am looking forward to rowing competitively on a collegiate level.
Throughout high school I have maintained a high GPA of 3.9. With this, I have achieved the Distinguished Varsity Scholar's Award every year and made it into National Honor Society. I am also an active member of my school's Key Club. In Key Club I am on a committee that helps organize school wide blood drives. Music has also been a big part of my life , being in Concert and Jazz band since middle school and playing three instruments. In my high school Concert band, I auditioned and got the role of flute section leader the past two years and I was elected one of the woodwind captains this year. In NHS and Key Club, there are a required number of volunteer hours to make, however I volunteer with my church whenever I am able. We often feed the needy in Atlantic City. I find it important to give back to the community and be an active member in it. On top of all of this, I have maintained a job over the past three years at a local ice cream place. It hasn't been easy, but managing my time is one of my strong suites.
