Personal Statement
I switched from playing competitive lacrosse to rowing crew in the spring season of my freshman year and it was the best decision I ever made. I yearned for a sport that didn't celebrate the superstar who scored the most goals, but relied on teamwork to achieve a common goal. Looking back at our novice season, we had our share of typical novice challenges, but we never gave up despite some grim situations - we rowed harder with a fierce determination. Through each experience, we grew as rowers and became closer as teammates, and managed to win some big races. After a summer rowing for Penn AC Gold, and a fall season playing field hockey, I'm excited for the spring season to finally be here. I can't wait to race with the Varsity 8 and push myself to compete at the highest level possible and learn from more experienced, better rowers. I can't wait to race on the water with my teammates and get down to the business of winning!
I am looking for a college where I can continue my rowing career alongside a competitive academic program. I look forward to learning, progressing and improving my ability as a rower and forging new relationships with coaches and teammates.
