Personal Statement
My name is Caroline Seale, and I am a class of 2019 recruit. I am a Center Midfielder playing with Gulf Coast Rangers 00G Black Southern Regional Premier League Team out of Mobile, AL. I have been playing since I was four years old, competitively since the age of nine and I desire to play at the collegiate level. I also play high school varsity soccer for St. Paul’s Episcopal in Mobile, AL. I have been a starter on the varsity team since my 7th grade year and played in every game since. I am currently a captain for my varsity team.
My position on the field varies depending on the needs of the team. For my club team, my primary position is that of center mid and sometimes center forward. For my high school varsity team, I play the attacking midfielder or center forward and have been chosen 3 times as Offensive MVP. I am right footed, but I can also shoot and pass very well with my left foot.
Academics do come first for me with regard to my college choice. The best fit for me would be a situation where academics are important, as well as the ability to make an impact early. Because I am looking for the right fit between academics and soccer, I am not limiting my choices based on geographic region or university size at this time.
As a center midfielder, I have excellent vision to distribute the ball on either side of the field, and a good understanding of how to control tempo. I may not be the flashiest player, but most coaches describe me as consistent, reliable, and constantly contributing. I am extremely composed on the field and very strong at one touch passing and scoring. I am extremely competitive both in the tackle and in the air.
With regard to my ODP accomplishments, I was on the Alabama State ODP team for 2016-2017. Previously, I was on the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Mississippi Girl’s State ODP team and attended Region-III camp in Montevallo, AL all 4 years.
In my first year as a varsity soccer player as a 7th grader, our school competed in the State Final 4 and lost in penalty kicks during the semi-final game. I was the only player to make the penalty kick during that match. I was chosen for the honor of Rookie of the Year.
In 2015, we played well and made it back to compete in the Championship game and finished as AL State 4A/A runner's up. I completed the season with 13 goals and 7 assists, while playing two-thirds of the season as defending mid before being moved to forward. I was chosen as All-State Second Team as an 8th grader.
In 2016, we made it back to compete in the AHSAA Championship game. We went to penalty kicks and finished as AL State 5A Finalist. In 2018, we once again made it to the AHSAA Final 4. I am looking forward to my senior year and hope to help lead my team back to the championship game.
My references will say that I have a great work ethic, coachable, competitive and have great field vision. I have been told that I have great ability to thread a through ball in tight space with accuracy. I also have great accuracy on free kicks. I am currently working with a strength and agility coach to improve my overall strength and core.
