Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Savannah Nichols, I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. I have played soccer for 13 years, I started playing soccer at 4 years old and have loved it ever since. My dream is to play collegiate soccer and then maybe professionally and even at the national level. I live for soccer.
I play competitive soccer with Cook Inlet Soccer Club on the travel team. I first started playing competitive soccer when I was 10 years old. Our club generally has three levels of teams, and I have always been on the top level and a starter. I tried out for ODP four years ago and was chosen for the travel team. Since starting with ODP I have been chosen for the travel team and am a starting player. My freshmen year of high school I made the Varsity team and was a starting player for many games. My sophomore year I started every game on varsity and was awarded Player of the Game two times, one time being in the high school state final. I also made the All-State team my sophomore year when we got second in state. My club team has won State every year except for one. In 2015 and 2016 I was chosen for the Alaska State Cup All-State Team.
I would be a good candidate, because I am committed and I work hard everyday to improve my skills. As my teammates and I get older many have started skipping practices, and don't attend supplemental training. I take advantage of every opportunity given to me in order to improve. I am a versatile player who can play both offense and defense. I am a passionate and determined player. I am good at analyzing plays, winning balls, and distribution. I am a leader on the field, and I work hard to encourage my teammates on the field, rather than yelling at them when things go wrong. The person I am hardest on is myself. I am always pushing myself to do better and work harder.
Academically I am a honors student, in an honors program with my school. My grades are not where I would like them to be, but I am working to improve them.
I volunteer with Partner's Club at my high school. Partner's Club is a club where students have lunch and get together for after school activities (like bowling and ice skating) with students who have special needs. Partner's Club meets every Tuesday at lunch, but often times I go in other days as well to hang out with the kids. I try to attend as many of the after school activities with the club as I can. I also volunteer at the Food Bank, and at various other special events throughout the year. I look forward to going to Partner's Club and seeing the friends I have made there.
