I began playing soccer as a defender, while learning to love the game and my position, my coach really wanted and urged me to get in goal. Told me there was a goalkeeper in me waiting to be played. At first, I resisted this idea. The pressure and mental struggle on the keeper to stop each goal was huge not to mention the defeating feelings felt after missing a save. After a few seasons of playing both field and keeper, I eventually became the team goalkeeper. As the seasons past, my mental toughness grew and my hesitation with my position faded. I learned to love being keeper. I have a strong personality and I'm coachable. I am aggressive and I work and train hard to be my best.
I currently play starting keeper for my high school and club soccer teams. This year, my high school team took runner up in the AIA 3A State Championship. I ended the season strong placing 5th in the state of AZ for GAA: 0.479, 1st team all region and all conference. SOG: 158, Saves 153 with 14 Shutouts. Taking runner up in the state championships this year was definitely a life changer. Although the number one title was not given to us, my team and I put in an enormous amount of effort and will. Each game I played I learned something new about my potential, how I could improve in the future and my love of the game.
I hope to find a college that will fit my academic goals while being able to continue to play soccer. My goal is to push myself in a positive environment to give me the opportunity to reach my potential in the classroom and on the field.
