Personal Statement
I am very interested in pursuing a career in Education and working with children. I recently worked as a summer camp counselor for the City of Carlsbad and worked with children between the ages of 5 to 11 years of age. I also volunteered at soccer camps throughout the year for Carlsbad United Soccer Club as well as refereeing for recreational and club programs during the fall. I enjoy working with children and helping them learn. In addition to Education, I also enjoy working with animals and may also be interested in pursuing an education in Animal Sciences or Marine Science. I also volunteer at the Nature Center in Carlsbad where I get to take care of some the many reptiles they have including feeding and bathing them.
Regarding soccer, I have a real love of the sport and have enjoyed playing club soccer for eight years, as well as playing on the Junior Varsity soccer team for Carlsbad High School my freshman and sophomore years. I scored 14 goals in 15 games freshman year and scored 14 goals my sophomore season as well as earning Outstanding Offensive Player of the Year. In addition to playing forward, I can also play midfield and have been trained in defense as well. My goal beyond high school is to play soccer in college while working on my degree. I have attended several college games in the San Diego area and have enjoyed watching the speed and intensity of the players. Playing for a college is my next big goal that I am working towards and wish to fulfill. Beyond college, I would like to see if I have the ability and skill to play professionally. It's a big dream but I would like to try and see if I could reach that level.
