Cynthia Covarrubias '17 Recruiting Profile

 My name is Cynthia. I attend Mayfair HS in Lakewood, Ca. I was accepted into MAP (Mayfair Academic Program) which guides and prepares you for college. My weighted GPA at the end of sophomore year was 4..3  and I earned a 5 on my first two AP tests. I would like to earn my B.S. in Biomedical Engineering working in the area of Biotechnology.

As for soccer, I began playing at the age of 4.  At age 8 I began playing club with Infinity '99 which won about 10 Championships in 3 years. After that, I played at the Silver Elite level for 2 years. Our club moved over to SCDSL where I played in Flight 1 for 2 years. I made an ECNL's  roster 2 years straight but decided the team was not the right fit. Currently, I play for Slammers EGSL with the goal of making the Mexican National Team. I have a passion for soccer and will admit to being a competitive person.

I will tell you, I am not one for speed or height as coaches first  look for. My strengths are best seen in a real game, in my decision making process, and in my controll  of the midfield. I am a distributor. I WILL get the ball where it needs to be in order for my teammates to score. I am able to score and pass with both feet. I am one of the players that takes the corner kicks, pk's, and collects punts. I am the type of player that the coaches can count on on the field. I can read the field and the plays and I can position my teammates throughout the game. Interestingly, 3 of 4 of my former coaches have made me captain. I love the game of soccer and all I want to do is PLAY!
