Personal Statement
I began playing soccer recreationally in 2004, after watching my dad play in the Marine Corps. During the first few years I played, soccer was simply what I did to stay active.
With my dad being active duty, we moved every few years. Sometimes the moves were short distances; we moved from on base to off base, but within the same city. Other times, the moves were much further, such as from California to Virginia. Soccer quickly became a source of familiarity throughout the moves. Whether playing with a Prince William Soccer team or a Carlsbad team, soccer was a constant when much else in my life was changing. Soccer also became an outlet.
I have always loved soccer, and at one point I dreamed of playing it professionally. As I have grown older, my love for soccer has blossomed; however, my aspirations in life changed from becoming a professional soccer player to becoming a veterinarian or pediatrician. Nonetheless soccer is still a major part of my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I have set a goal for myself to continue playing soccer at the collegiate level, but I also have a goal of pursuing a career in the bio-medical field. I am committed to ensuring I attain my goals, both in the academic and sports arenas.
