Personal Statement
In my life, school has always played a big role. Every class is important to me and I value my academic accomplishments, perhaps even more so than my athletic ones. When sports are no longer part of the equation I want to have my academics there to support me, which is why in school I work my hardest all the time. Whenever I feel that my scores do not reflect my effort and hard work, it gets frustrating. Yes, I am a bit of a perfectionist. I have learned to use that disappointment to fuel me, and motivate me to be better and work even harder. Likewise, in sports I carry over the same determination and diligence. I have a passion to be the best that I can, and it drives me to work harder than everyone else. Until I do the best that I possibly can, I am not satisfied, and until I reach that point, I will work as hard as I can to get there.
During my time playing soccer I have built great bonds with my teammates and coaches, whether it be my school team or club team. These bonds have been established, I believe, in large part due to my commitment. Once I am committed to a team I am all in, always looking to improve, not only myself, but more importantly to improve the team. I feel that my dedication to the team has become a driving force, one that my peers have acknowledged by electing me captain of my high school varsity team. To me this captaincy is a great honor because it came from my teammates, showing me that the dedication I have to the team and the players is not going unnoticed. It is with this new leadership role, that I am working to help unite and push my team as a whole. These goals I have for the team are not always easy to accomplish, as I am learning, but it is these new challenges that are preparing me for my future in sports, school, and life.
