Personal Statement
I love to compete. I've found that whether I'm on the field or in the classroom, I'm at my best when I'm faced with a challenge or put in a competitive situation. I'm a relentless attacker on the field where I take every opportunity to win the ball and create opportunities for myself and my teammates. Though I play forward for both my club and high school teams, my coaches know they can count on me to play defense when needed, where I use my speed to close down opposing players and start counterattacks or preserve close leads. I also enjoy playing midfield where my passing skills and ability to spread the ball around the field can help my team control the game and challenge the defense in transition. I not only work hard at team practices but train on my own to improve my strength, fitness and technical skill so that I can be at my best and be the player my teammates count on in tough situations. I believe I can make a difference on the field and I'm willing to test myself against the best players in order to win. In the classroom I've always been an honor roll student and constantly challenge myself to do better. I compete against myself academically, trying to improve my performance on tests through extra study with teachers and long hours trying to master new ideas and difficult honors classes.
For my college career I'm looking for a program that I fit into both academically and athletically. I've always worked well with my peers and enjoy meeting people and getting involved in group activities. I've been in leadership positions in student government in high school, have run for statewide office in California's Youth and Government Program, and in the past have been named student of the year, athlete of the year and a community future leader. I know I have the skills and leadership abilities to contribute to your program. I truly believe I can take on any challenge and look forward to competing at the highest level, that's when I'm at my best.
