Louise Swander '19 Recruiting Profile

    My love of soccer started at a young age for me, as I began to play at the age of four. I played at my local park with AYSO Region 58, which would become my home field for the next nine years. I started to play goalkeeper when I was ten years old and have continued developing my skills ever since. My focus has not only been on my athletic development, but my education as well. I prioritize my education and always strive to embody the full meaning of a student-athlete. My goal is to go into the medical field, having shown an interest in the sciences since my early years. I understand the academic demands of top ranked colleges and universities, especially in the medical departments, and am dedicated to staying on track with my schooling as I continue to improve my game and skills. 

    Soccer is one of my great passions. I joined my first club team in 2014 which was Real So Cal GU14 ECNL. I went straight from AYSO to ECNL so I have had a different club experience than many. I adapted to the much higher level of play very quickly and have advanced my knowledge of the game because of it. Not only am I constantly working and excited to improve, but I invite direction and critique to expose myself to as many chances to further my game and abilities as possible. I believe one of my greatest assets as an athlete is my ability to communicate and analyze. As a goalkeeper, I am always behind the play, even if I am involved. I take advantage of my location on the field to continue to help my team no matter where the ball is, through communication. My priority is always the success of the team, not myself. I believe in the power of encouragement and strive to always be a presence when I step on the field.
