Personal Statement
I am all about soccer. My father played soccer for Toluca, Mexico when he was 18 and it is his favorite sport. My sisters and I grew up juggling a ball before we learned to ride a bike. My family had me signed up for soccer as soon as they could, because they believed that soccer would prepare me for life. Soccer teaches sportsmanship, and keeping a level head in the middle of high stress situations. It is a sport that has you problem solving at all times and making adjustments based on new and immediate changes in the play. It requires a person to collaborate, move and think as one with the team. Being a female athlete adds the benefit of learning to deal with the ever changing facets of feminine drama and still staying focused on the game. I personally have learned to stand my ground as person from having stood my ground on the field. I have also learned to accept my mistakes as steps in becoming a better player.
My dream is to attend a college where I can study Business and at the same time be a part of the school's soccer squad. Soccer has always been much more than a pastime to me, it is my passion, a sport that defines me. I've always given my 100% to every team I've ever been a part of and I give my full commitment to all my coaches as I know they can make me better. I'm a born leader with my teammates and love to inspire them and create team synergies. I have been told that I make games much more fun to watch! Perhaps it is because I am passionate and love to put on a show on the field to make games more exciting. I realize going to college will demand lots of my time in academic pursuits; however, I have been combining school and athletics successfully my entire life. I have been playing soccer since I was 4 years old and have been on year round travel teams from the age of 8, and I am committed to continue that trend. I currently have a 4.1 GPA and combine dual practices in High School Varsity and AAA travel team. I have had the opportunity to play in Mexico for the "Seleccion de Baja California", and I have played up in age for several teams. I am currently working with a personal goalie coach who helping me hone my skills and take me to another level. I am looking to become a well-rounded, well-educated person and I want to find a college that fits my needs.
