Hi, my name is Jazmin Gomez and I am 17 years old. I am in my senior year at Norwalk HS (Norwalk, CA). I have been a starter on the NHS varsity team since my freshman year. I was voted Most Valuable Player and named first team All-League my freshman year (2013-14) as well. I also received the scholar athlete award for the 2013-14 season. I helped my high school soccer team reach their second playoff game in all NHS girl's soccer history. My sophomore year I had an injury that restricted me to only playing a few games the entire season. However, I was still named to the second team All-League and received the Most Valuable Offensive Player award that same season (2014-15). My junior year (2015-16) I was named to the first team All-League once again.
For as long as I could remember, besides the last two years, I've always played one year older for club. I started playing soccer when I was 4 years old and joined my first club team when i was 10 years old. I've always loved challenges and the feeling of satisfaction I get when I accomplish those challenges. I am currently in my second year on the Beach Fc Academy team as a starter. We went from being a brand new team and ranked 35 in Cal. South, to being ranked 8 within 3 months. We compete and succeed at the highest level. I also have experience playing against a WPSL team, which is made up of high level college players and some almuni.
I take my education very seriously and am involved in extracurricular activities as well. I am in both Key Club and Link Crew. Key Club consists of community work and spirit events. Link Crew consists of events that's sole purpose is to help make Freshmen's first year in high school the best possible. I am not 100% sure of what I want to major in yet, but i do know that it will either be in the Engineering or Psychology field. I have also been in the Engineering Pathway (PLTW) since my 8th grade year, which helped me gain interest in the field of engineering. Therefore, I would love to attend a college that are a good match for me academically and athletically. Soccer is my passion and if I had the opportunity to pursue it, I would.
Lastly, it is very important for me to succeed in soccer because I have two younger sisters who also play soccer, and I want to set a good example and be the best role model I could be. I try to be a involved as possible in their young careers a well so I could have to most influence on them as possible. For example, I helped coach one of my sisters teams and was the referee for her game a couple times as well.
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile!
Jazmin
