Personal Statement
Hi,
My name is Roxana Vranian. I am currently attending Centaurus High in Lafayette, Colorado as a junior. I am originally adopted from Romania, and I came to the states when I was 9-10 months old. I began playing soccer when I was 4 years old when my mom coached me. Originally, I played as a forward since that felt like my strongest suit. When I reached the age of 10, I began to play goalie, and I suddenly became much stronger in that position. Ever since then, goalie has been my main and strongest position. As a freshmen, I competed for the goalie position on the varsity soccer team, and have been the starting goalie both my freshmen and sophomore year. My junior year, I am now one of the team captains. Currently I am playing for the Trebol Soccer Club. My team is coached by a semi-professional soccer player, whose main goals are skill and play development, preparing players for college soccer, and instilling responsibility and passion for the game. You'll see by my transcript that I had a difficult freshman year academically and a change in high schools has resulted in a significant improvement in my attitude towards school and my GPA. My current school is an excellent fit for me.
I have many times been told and awarded for my leadership abilities on and off the field. I would bring this skill to my college team in the future. The reality of being adopted is that I have faced many challenges that perhaps other players would not have gone through. I can say that working through these challenges has made me a stronger and more resilient person. My reaching out to my birth family makes me aware that I have two families in two parts of the world that care about me. I am a competitive and compassionate soccer player with a strong desire to continually improve my game.
