Hard work learned and developed while playing soccer has allowed me to prosper as an athlete, student, and overall person. It has driven me to accomplish many things in soccer, school, and other sports, and I strive to continue this by competing at a collegiate level.
In my first year of high school, I was the JV starting goalkeeper. In my second year, I made varsity. In terms of club soccer, I have started for my Chelsea Piers Shoreline Regional team for many years. In every practice, I put in maximum effort in order to get better each time. Coaches can attest, I am an exceptionally hard worker with intense dedication. With that, I am a fast learner who works hard to apply feedback from coaches and teammates. Additionally, as a goalkeeper, I put in extra time for goalkeeper practices and my own training, and have learned how to stay resilient through frustration. Moreover, I have to stay optimistic if there are many goals resulting from others' errors, or rather, when I make a crucial mistake that costs the entire team.
In school, I have also learned to be a hard worker, in part because of soccer. I manage to maintain a high GPA in difficult classes, participate and lead clubs, participate in Girl Scouts, and do volunteer work. Besides this, I am an extremely passionate learner. I try to take classes and participate in activities where I can learn the most possible. I hope to enter the medical field in college, so I strive to take as many STEM and science classes I can throughout high school, as well as learning about medicine through extracurriculars. These include a Biomedical Engineering Immersion run by GSNETX, working to become a licensed EMT, and running the Pre-Med Club at my school.
Playing soccer throughout my entire life has influenced my strong work ethic to extend to other sports. I have run track, rowed, and played tennis. Now, I play tennis and am learning to play rugby in preparation for my first season this year (2023). I've worked hard in all of these sports, succeeding in short distance events in track, improving dramatically in the time I rowed, working to develop strong technique in tennis, and working with intense determination to learn and succeed in rugby. Applying hard work to these sports and soccer has taught me how to lead a balanced life, collaborate well with others, and how to better apply feedback. It has also allowed me to develop strong athleticism, especially sprinting, strength, reaction time, and footwork.
I strive to attend a college of any competition level, but high academics. Ultimately, I hope to be recruited to a college soccer program, at a school that pushes me to succeed, in order to continue developing as an athlete, student, and person.
