My name is Thaise Sudano, I am a junior at St. Luke’s School in New Canaan Connecticut, and I want to play soccer at the collegiate level. Soccer has been an important part of my life since I was three years old. Growing up I attended local high school and premier games, admiring the older girls and the competitive yet caring nature that the sport brought out in every player. As a high school player, I strive at continuing to improve my game. Due to my speed, I often play sweeper and am the last line of defense. I love the challenge as our high school team allowed less than a goal a game. Along with this, I am constantly working on improving with my club team. Since a young age, I’ve always wanted to be a captain of my team. Leadership, a quality that is necessary for a center back, allows for me to gain the trust of my team. As the last line of defense, my teammates rely on both my voice and speed to know what to do. I pride myself on leading through action; while some of the time I lead through my voice, other times I lead through sportsmanship.
Academics, specifically the importance of academics, has been instilled in my brain from a young age. My mother, originally a nurse, later became a medical malpractice lawyer. My father played basketball at Delaware University for his passion, basketball, before transferring to a small Division III school and then getting his MBA from Rutgers University. He rose above his difficult childhood to become a managing partner at Beverage Marketing Company in New York City. My brother played football at RPI University and will graduate with a degree in Systems Engineering this spring. In addition, my younger sister is committed to play lacrosse at UNC at Chapel Hill. From my parents success, along with my siblings success, I’ve always had high familial expectations. For this reason, along with my love of learning, I want to go to college for my education. Nonetheless, I am just as excited to be on the soccer field as in the classroom.
