Personal Statement
I have been playing soccer since the age of 5 and competitively with a premier club since 8. From this early age, I remember how my love of the game started to develop. I love(d) playing with my teammates, the competitive spirit and the lessons learned through victory and defeat. It has been a goal of mine to continue my soccer career at the collegiate level for a long time. I currently attend Bristol Eastern High School in Bristol, CT with a 3.7 GPA. I am enrolled in 2 AP courses and the remaining are accelerated. While this is a challenge, I am still maintaining and balancing school with my soccer efforts. I have started all 4 years for my Varsity High School Team; two years as a forward and my junior and senior year as a midfielder. Playing forward was quite different for me as I had generally played as a midfielder for my club team and as a defender for CT ODP. However, I was able to fit in nicely in this position and continue to show that I am a very versatile soccer player. During the 2013 fall season, my High School Team advanced to the second round of the Class L State Tournament largely due to my contributions in the first round matchup. In my HS Junior year, our record was 7-8-2. For this year, I was first in assists (with 4 game winning assists and 3 game winning goals) and made the All-CCC conference team. My team selected me as captain for 2015 and I will continue to be a leader on and off the field. Playing with my club team has also proven to be very successful as we won the CT State Cup Soccer Tournament during the spring of 2012 and 2013 and advanced to the Region I championships. I have many strengths on and off the soccer field. As a soccer player, I am a very strong possession player with the ability to use my body to keep from getting “pushed” off the ball, have an extremely high work rate and distribute the ball aggressively and intelligently based on my teammates speed and ability and field conditions. Off the field, I pride myself in excelling academically and lead my life with compassion, integrity, leadership and honesty. In the past, I have volunteered to assist coaching the younger soccer teams at my club. I am currently a member of my High School’s student council. I joined the outdoor track team in the spring of 2015 to keep up with my fitness and endurance. I also work out 2-3 days per week with my HS trainer, doing weight training and cross-fit to improve my overall fitness, strength and speed. I am confident that my academic talents along with my soccer skills will be a great fit for a very special school.
