Ever since I was young, I yearned to step out on the field and play the sport I have grown ever so passionate about. I was undoubtedly infatuated with soccer at the early age of 7. Soccer has not only been a physical outlet but a means towards personal growth. Through my experience, I have learned it is good to express yourself, be confident, sociable and take the lead whenever the opportunity arises. Without this incredible opportunity, I wouldn’t be reaching out to collegiate coaches to express my interest in playing women’s soccer at the collegiate level.
I have ten years of soccer experience under my belt. I have played representative travel soccer for more than 9 of those ten years. In the past 10 years, I have picked up an abundance of basic and advanced soccer skills that have become an integral part of my current skillset. As a defender, I have learned that communication is key considering the fact that defenders have the ability to see the entire field. With that in mind, I have grown really good at anticipating ball movement in order to shut down offensive plays. I believe I have exceptional ball handling skills which come in handy when contributing to offensive plays. I have had to learn that being aggressive on the field is a must to be successful at the varsity level and that the best players are aggressively smart on the field.
“Team work makes dream work” this statement is so closely embedded in the way that I play and how I believe a team should be. I believe as a team we should work cohesively and get along well both on and off the field. It’s important to me that I work well with my teammates and coaches. There’s a particularly special bond between a player, their teammates and their coach. I strive to work hard and learn from my coaches and teammates. Arrogance and stubbornness are not a part of my vocabulary in the world of soccer. My passion for the sport has grown as the bond between my teammates and myself grew. Knowing the strengths, weaknesses and having an unbeatable work ethic is the definition of team.
As a student athlete, I pride myself on doing exceptionally well both on and off the field. My goal is to maintain an A-average throughout my high school career. I take my academics seriously, I do my best in challenging coursework because I strive to acquire a great education. Balancing sports and school has been a way of life for me and has never affected my grades. I want to prove to myself that can be an asset to any team at the collegiate level.
My goal is to always be continually improving myself both on and off the field. Soccer is my safety and comfort zone. Playing soccer would be the best way for me to adjust to collegiate life. I refuse to underestimate the importance of making the right choices for my future. Attending the right college puts me a step closer to reaching the goals I have set for my future. I am determined to prove to my coaches, my family, but most importantly to myself that I can excel academically and be an integral part of collegiate women’s soccer. My hope for my future is that if given the opportunity I can accomplish astonishing things.
