I wanted to try soccer at the age of 4. I had no idea what to expect or how to play, but I wanted to try. The second the ball touched my foot, I knew this was the sport I wanted to learn and grow with. I pictured myself playing on a field at the collegiate level. I knew I had a lot of work to do. I started with the recreational leagues learning basic skills. I excelled rather quickly, and advanced to travel with many coach recommendations. I started travel ball and prepared myself to work!! I spent countless hours learning new drills, mastering new skills, listening to helpful advice and fixing mistakes from the not so good critiques. I didn't mind because I knew this was what I wanted to do and I was so excited to learn and get better. I played middle school soccer for all 3 years and became captain in my last year. I learned how to lead a team to some victories and, unfortunately, some losses. In the end, I taught them what sportsmanship really meant and most importantly to have them all play as a team. They learned from me and I learned from them. I also played travel at the time and I brought new skills to my middle school team. I started high school at the JV level and I grew even more academically and on the field. I ended my freshman year with 15 goals and 5 assists. I knew I needed more of a challenge and prepared myself for the varsity team. I did not get to play a lot my sophomore year, but when I did, I was able to score some goals and prove my skills at the varsity level. Not being able to play made me push harder at practice. I taught myself never to give up. I learned some things are not always handed to me and working for a goal will pay off in the end. I am looking forward to my Senior year and planning for college. The future is mine and I cannot wait to see what's in store for me!
