Soccer has been a part of my life for over fourteen years now and pursuing it at the collegiate level is a dream of mine that I wish to make a reality. Without soccer, I wouldn't be who I am today. I wouldn't be as smart, dedicated, independent, hardworking, or an all around strong person. I have grown due to all the experiences soccer has thrown at me. However, this past season as the captain of my team has granted me the most growth in all my years of playing. It introduced leadership skills, how to set a good example, and how to stay strong after being knocked down. As captain, I had to remain a leader even though my teammates had felt defeated.
In addition to finding the right fit for me athletically, I need a strong fit academically. I have always had the desire to enhance my learning and excel to a higher level, just as I do in soccer. In life I have faced many challenges when it comes to my soccer career. I have had to make sacrifices and adjustments in order to meet my goals. Three years ago I made the decision to play for FC Florida, even though the distance was over an hour away from where I live. It was difficult, but I managed to balance my time with soccer and school and be committed to my schedule . However, I believe my greatest challenge to be this one, the college recruitment process. My parents and I never fully understood how it worked and because of that, I've had a late start to the process. But as stated earlier, there is no one to blame other than myself and I now must overcome this obstacle as I have many others in life. It is just one more hurdle to jump over for me to accomplish my dream. However, this is the biggest and most influential hurdle set in front of me so far. And I hope greatly that someone sees the potential in me that I know I possess.
