Personal Statement
I have been playing soccer ever since I was seven. Throughout the years of my soccer career, I’ve played on several different club teams, sometimes playing with girls three age groups older, practicing with boys to improve my footwork skills, and playing a season with a California team in the Elite Club National League (ECNL). From those experiences, I have learned to improve my soccer knowledge and to be quick and tough on the ball.
I have great ambition to achieve my collegiate goals and aspirations. I aspire to be the best that I can and I am willing to push myself and do whatever it takes. My goal is to attend the best colleges in the NCAA Division I, Division II, or Division III level and play soccer. I am a hard-worker on and off the field. On the field, as a defensive center mid, I enjoying being the playmaker, finding the through balls for the forwards, playing the flanks, or simply connecting with all of my teammates. Games that I play center back, I enjoy winning the ball from the other team, whether it be in the air or just beating a player. As a forward, I usually check back so I can turn to find the flanks, a through ball for the other forward, and taking on players 1v1. Off the field, I like to maintain a strong connection with all of my teammates, I’ve noticed throughout my years of playing, the more comfortable I am with my teammates, the better I play.
Growing up, I competed in different sports like Taekwondo and Outrigger Canoe Paddling. I started Taekwondo when I was four and received my first and second degree black belt. For a few years, I competed at the Junior Olympic Championships, placing several times in both poomsae and sparring. For Outrigger Canoe Paddling with high school club team Kanalui Canoe Club. Our races were once a week, paddling three to six miles.
I am a kind hearted and joyous person to be around. I will always be seen smiling or laughing and putting others in a good mood. My positive attitude is infectious to those around me. Even in the most stressful and hard times I still manage to be positive. I give others courage and inspire them to be the best person they can be. I am always willing to try new things but still stay focused on the important things around me.
