Personal Statement
My name is Megan Goo. I am a junior (class of 2015) at Iolani School, a private college preparatory in Honolulu. I have a 3.3 GPA.
I usually play outside forward for high school and club soccer because I've been told that I am fast, have good ball control on the run and a powerful strike from the outside. Another position I play is attacking central mid because I'm a capable passer and striker. As a sophomore, I helped the Iolani School girls varsity team win the league and state championship titles. I was the league's fourth highest scorer and was selected to the All League Team. As a junior, I helped the team win the league championship for the second consecutive year. I received First Team honors from the Interscholastic League of Honolulu. In December 2013, we played in the invitational and prestigious Excalibur High School Tournament in California. We placed 3rd out of 32 teams, and I was selected to the All Tournament Team. My club team, Leahi 97 Premier, won the Hawaii State Cup seven consecutive years and twice was finalist at Regionals. I also played for the Hawaii ODP team that won the 2009 Regional IV Tournament.
My goal is to attend a college or university where I can excel academically and athletically. I also want to be involved in the community. Academically, I would like to pursue a major that leads to a career in physical therapy because I like helping people. Athletically, my passion is soccer and my dream is to play at a high level. Community involvement is important to me because it gives me the opportunity to volunteer and help others.
I am a team player, I am very coachable, technically skilled, and I get along very well with teammates and coaches. I am self motivated, highly disciplined and have a good work ethic on and off the field.
