Personal Statement

Most kids dream about becoming astronauts, firefighters, or policemen, but not me. I have wanted to be a professional athlete as long as I can remember. Soccer has been a huge part of my life since I was little. I am always running to soccer practices, training in the snow, going to games in twenty degree weather, sliding in the mud, and diving on the ground time and time again. As you know, soccer is tough, but I am tougher. My goal keeping skills have been getting better every practice, I have great hands, quick reactions, strong legs and tough demeanor. I am a team leader and understand the importance of my team mates and coaches, I have a way of bonding with my team that allows them to have complete trust in me , and I them. Everyday I strive to be better than the day before, I work the hardest at each drill, going for that hard shot, or charging into a group of players to get the ball. Playing at the collegiate level was a dream when I was young, but now it is a reality. That doesn't scare me, it excites me.
When I go to college I want to major in biology, which is not the easiest major by far. Most girls would struggle to balance school and soccer, but for me that would not be a problem, as long as I am doing what I love I will succeed. Most goal keepers out there survive off of physical strength. As a sophomore, starting on Varsity for the past two years, I realize that in order to be the best you must have both mental strength, as well as physical. I possess both. When you watch other goal keepers, trying to figure out who to recruit, remember that I will be that player that thrives in difficult situations, that stands out among the rest. I am the hardest working, and most dedicated goalkeeper you will see by far, always trying to impress, improve and achieve greatness.
