Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Taylor Kowilcik. I am a sophmore at Silver Lake Regional High School located in Kingston, MA. All my life, even as a young child, soccer was something that I could always look forward to after a bad day, or even just to get me in a better head space. Soccer is not only a sport to me it is a passion that will never die. I have been able to meet many friends who have become so close to me, that they are like family. These people I have met slowly drift away at times, but we always have a common love for soccer that we can reconnect anytime. When I was 3, I was able to start soccer on a recreational team. I played on this team until I was able to join my town teams. Then, soccer became a huge part of my life, for I was truly addicted and dedicated to the game. I joined a nearby club, FCUSA. They taught me how to be a great player, person and multitask-er. I then just recently switched to Liverpool, and they have put me on many different levels so I can experience every situation. This fall, I was able to be one of the four freshmen, out of 25, to be selected to play on JV/ Varsity. I started on JV and was able to score 12 goals halfway through the season. The varsity coach offered a spot for me on the field, and I of course, accepted. After only two games with them, I became a starter. This was a huge accomplishment for me because I dedicate all my free time, and life to prove myself to coaches and the ones who mean a lot to me. For this upcoming 2020/2021 season I am playing on the South Shore Select DPL team for my age group. This is a huge accomplishment for me and I cannot wait to see where this team takes me not only as a individual player, but as a teammate. I am a very hardworking person. If I have a goal, or have something I want to reach, I try my hardest to achieve that. I put full effort on and off the field. I try my hardest to help others on the team, and be a good friend towards all. I like to consider myself a good leader and example on my club team, though we do not have designated captains, I want to prove myself to my coach that I am a reliable candidate. My new goal is to someday be the captain of my High School team before I graduate. After high school, I want to be able to continue my love and dedication for this sport into my college education. Being able to play at a college level has always been a lifelong dream of mine, and I aspire to make that dream a reality. Lastly, my academics are a huge part of my life too. I take school seriously, and put forth full effort just like on the field. I do not procrastinate, I am able to complete projects, homework assignments, and more in a matter of weeks ahead. I want to be able to take AP classes as I get higher up in high school, and also take part in National Honors society if I am offered the chance. I am currently taking honors classes so that I can challenge myself.
