I am Kayla Sharp and I am currently playing for a travel soccer team called the Novi Jaguars. I played with Waza F.C. before that. I play outside forward or attacking central midfield. I’ve been playing soccer for about 12 years now (about 9 with Waza and one season with the Jags) and over the years I’ve fallen in love with the sport more and more. The last club season I played with Waza I played on the U17 Premier 2 and U19 High School Open girls teams. This year with the Jags I'm playing in the MRL P2 league. Regardless of the team I’m on, I try very hard, give my best effort and do what I can to help my team succeed.
Last spring at Farmington High School in Farmington, Michigan I played starting forward on varsity for the third year in a row. I was very thankful for the opportunity and really enjoyed the team. I was the second leading goal scorer and player with assists on our team. We came in third in the OAA White Division, which was our first year in the division, but lost in the district semi-final to Marion High School.
As for my speed, I can run a 40 yd dash in 4.9 seconds.
I currently have a 3.64 GPA and will graduate with the class of 2017. Right now I’m leaning towards a Sales and Marketing degree with a minor in Accounting when I get to college. I am also looking into the pharmaceutical field. I'm currently a vice president in Farmington's business club called DECA. In DECA, you compete against other schools all around your district and you work with a partner and create a business and marketing plans in your selected category to present to judges. With that being said, my partner and I did extremely well in our category last year, which was sports and entertainment, and we made it to the State competition. This was a great accomplishment knowing I have great interest in the business field. Another activity I do is tutoring 5th and 6th graders.
Ever since I was little I’ve talked about wanting to play college soccer. My goals in college are to play at a competitive level with a quality coaching staff and go to a school with a good education program.
