Personal Statement
Ever since I can remember soccer has been my one true passion. I began playing at the age of five, advanced to the travel level at age eight and have never looked back. I have had the privilege and opportunity to have of played at various travel levels throughout the state and region. These included Select, Elite, Premier, MRL, ODP and USL levels. No matter what the level of competition has been, just being on the field gives me a sense of fulfillment that’s hard to find elsewhere. It’s a competitive, physical and skillful game that lets you challenge yourself and push yourself to new limits. Coaches tell me my strongest assets are my versatility, field of vision and ball control skills. Although I prefer to shoot with my right foot, I am extremely comfortable with my left as well. I can play several positions; however, my favorite is Center mid. One of the things I like most about playing there is I have the ability to control the flow of the game. If things are moving too fast I can hold the ball in order to slow things down and create open lanes. Likewise, if the game is to slow, I can help set the pace by exploiting openings and moving the ball quickly around the field. Recently I was thrilled to have achieved one of my soccer goals. I played for a U14 USL Super Y team and was able to score a goal in championship game while winning the North American Championship title. Although I have already achieved one of my soccer goals, there are several I still strive to achieve. One of those is to score a goal in a game while winning a state championship with my high school team. Our school won the state title in 2009 and I would like to be part of the program that is able to repeat that accomplishment. After graduation I would like to play soccer at the college level. This will allow me to continue challenging myself on the field, the ability to continue to play the game I love while supplementing the cost of my education. I am currently interested in perusing my degree in psychology and am now looking for a school which will provide the best fit for me as a student, an athlete and the team I will play for.
