Personal Statement
My goal for college is to obtain a degree in kinesiology or exercise science. I have always had a love for sports and competition and this career field will allow me to do something I love while also helping others. I want to spend my years in college learning and growing as a person. I want to get the best education possible for myself and I would also love to compete on a great soccer team in college.
I started playing soccer when I was 3 and have been playing club soccer since I was 9, mostly at the premier level. I play basketball and golf also and I love to compete. My love for sports, especially soccer, has not only taught me perseverance and hard work but also showed me that I am capable of great things. I have found that I am stronger than I thought I was and when things get hard I know I can push through. I’m a three sport athlete and have challenged myself to balance playing 1-2 sports every season along with challenging myself academically. My education is always my top priority and I take my role as a student athlete very seriously.
I’m a very competitive person, but I treasure the relationships and lifelong friendships I have found through sports. Ultimately I want to see everyone on the team succeed whether that’s on the field or off and I love doing whatever is needed to push my team further. This fall my club team needed a goal keeper and I had always thought the position would be a great challenge. I decided to step up and become a goalie for my team. I went to goalie training and practiced as much as possible in addition to regular golf and soccer practices. I played goalie in my first full game during a tournament last weekend and recorded a shut-out. I have found that I really enjoyed playing goalie and am quite good at it.
Overall, I love competition and I love to challenge myself with new opportunities to become a better person and athlete. I am looking forward to what lies ahead in my college career and I hope playing soccer is part of that experience.
