Personal Statement
PCA- Prepare, commit, excel As a 7th grader, everyone told me not to worry too much about the future, for its so far away, but I couldn't help myself, whether it was making goals, exploring possible fields, or just letting my mind wander through all the possibilities. Now, as a junior in high school, I've been thinking about my future for years and have an infinite amount of personal goals within my education, sports, and life. I've always planned to go to a 4 year college, and the medical field has always interested me. As I've grown up, I've realized that the "medical field" doesn't really narrow it down much. As of right now, I have no idea what I want to do in the medical field, but I do know that I want to graduate high school with a 3.7 GPA and graduate from a 4 year school, and continue onto med school. On the sports end of things, again as a 7th grader, my team and I had this well thought out plan that we were the future Minnesota Gopher team! Yes, all 15 of us were going to end up at the U of M playing soccer as if nothing had changed from 7th grade to college. Now as juniors, we realize that growing up means reality and reality means that that 7th grade soccer team, isn't in fact going to last forever. But, something else most of us have realized is that that 7th grade team gave us such a strong passion for soccer. My 7th grade coach once told me about her soccer career in highschool, and although I can't remember most of it, one thing that has stuck with me is the fact that she was a caption as a junior. Not really a big deal, right? Well to little 7th grade me, that was the coolest thing ever considering all I've ever thought is that seniors are captains. That year I made it my goal to become a captain as a junior, and although there were some bumps in the road (new coaches, injuries, etc) and I didn't reach that goal, the point is that goals were and are such an important part of my soccer career and so much more in my daily life. In fact, those goals have led me to this, a recruiting website, because even though that 7th grade soccer team may not be sticking together and playing for the Gophers, I refuse to make my last soccer game my senior year of highschool.
