Personal Statement
My name is Sarah Walden and I’m a junior at Resurrection Catholic High School in Pascagoula, Ms. I am a 5’6”, 130 lb. defensive midfielder. I play for Gulf Coast United Futbol club and I play for my high school team. Last season I helped lead my high school team to the first round of the playoffs and last spring my club team finished 2nd in the state. I have been playing soccer since I was about four. Since then I have received many awards. In the 8th grade I started as a varsity player on my high school team and I received the Defensive Player of the Year as an 8th grader, 9th grader and MVP as a 10th grader. I was voted as an All –District Player by my coaches for the past two years. Along with playing soccer, I run cross country and in 2012 we were 1A District Champions and I finished as an All-District runner this past season.
As of right now, I have a 19 on the ACT but I plan on taking it again this spring. I also have a GPA of 3.34. I am also a Million Word Reader, I got first in the school science fair this past year, I received the Service Distinction Award for over 40 hours of community service, and I am a member of the National Junior Honor Society, Editor of the Key Club, Z-Club, I volunteer for the Gulf Coast United Futbol Club Academy Program, and I’m an active member in the St. Joseph CYO. I hope to continue my soccer career so I can help pay for college. As well as being a good athlete, I am a very hardworking student and I get the job done!
