Ever since I was a young girl, I have always dreamt about playing collegiate soccer, while receiving a stellar education. I have always been a very driven person, in regards to both soccer and school, and I simply do not take no for an answer. When something gets in my way I will always do whatever I can to get passed it. For example, I was born with Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome. When I get this syndrome I am very nauseous, dizzy, and I cannot walk, talk, or drink huge quantities for three days at a time. After I get sick with this syndrome (every three months) it takes me a few weeks to gain my strength back and get hydrated again. Though just last time I got sick, in April 2016, I had to go with my soccer team from Las Vegas, Nevada to Scottsdale, Arizona for a Far West Regional League event. My team only had twelve players going, I had just missed one week of school, and I was going to be missing another day to go up to Arizona. Despite all of these difficulties, I persevered and I worked hard to gain my strength back quickly so that I could play in Arizona and I was able to complete all of my school work on time to maintain my 4.0 GPA.
Soccer has helped shape me into the person I am today. For example, just recently my team and I competed in the Region IV President's Cup, a few weeks before leaving for this big event two girls on my team unfortunately tore their acl so we went from Las Vegas, Nevada to Arvada, Colorado with only twelve girls vying for a chance at nationals. Through hard work my team made it to the quarter finals, but two minutes into the game our goalie got a concussion and we were down to eleven players and no goalie. My team ended up loosing this game, but we never gave up and played our best game of the tournament. This experience showed me, a very competitive person who loves to win, that if you play hard with dedication, perseverance, and passion you will always be successful. Since this game I don't look at what anybody else is doing; I just focus on doing my best.
