Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Marlí Jade Jinee Butterfield, MJ for short. I'm a Bermudian national team player. I currently attend Glenville State University as a freshman on the field and in the classroom. As a freshman here at Glenville State University I have played over 850 minutes and started in 80% of the games played. At the age of 6, I fell in love with the game of soccer and I’ve been playing ever since. To me, the soccer field is like an escape from reality, the only place I can go and be free while doing what I love. Although that might sound a bit questionable, it is clear that we all need time to relax, take a step back and reflect on life in order to stay sane and playing soccer is how I do that. Playing college soccer has always been my dream and.
My main positions are Left-back and Left-wing, however, I can play anywhere on the left side. Although I only named two positions, sometimes you will find me on the right side of the field. I think that because I can step out of my comfort zone and adjust to any position on the field whether the left or right side, will potentially make me a great asset to your team. I am a natural-born leader as well as a motivator. Not only do I want to succeed, but I also want the coaches and team players to succeed and excel in everything they do. I would definitely describe myself as a team player with skills that allow me to communicate and work well with people from all backgrounds.
My main priorities when looking for another institution is getting a good education as well as playing soccer at a competitive level. I’m looking for a challenge from both an academic and a soccer standpoint. In conclusion, I believe I can be a great asset to any team as I will always put in 110% effort and strive for greatness which in my family household, is NEVER an option.
