Personal Statement
Scoring the winning goal during the State Championship final for my club team in 2014 to advance us to Nationals, will always be my greatest memory in soccer. However, my passion for the game is constantly growing each time I step food on the field, no matter if it is practice or a game. Throughout my entire soccer career coaches have told me that I have a fast pace, play the ball quickly, and show strong communication on the field. As a way to utilize my speed on the field, I work to receive the ball, lay it off to a striker or central midfielder and quickly make a run hoping to advance the ball further into the opposing team's side of the field. Being an outside midfielder, I have learned to never stop working. Since the ball is always in constant motion, and as a player, having to move from defense to offense, rest is never an option. Not only has soccer taught me to never stop working on the field, but it has carried over into my overall way of living.
As a student, I was lucky enough to be accepted into the NJROTC program at Colts Neck High School, where I was taught skills on how to be a leader and work with others efficiently. I was able to demonstrate leadership greater than most of my peers, and was honored to earn the position as a commander on the drill team. These leadership skills are easily translated onto the soccer pitch and I have learned to feel confident with and without the ball. Along with the ROTC program, I am a versatile athlete and am a part of the varsity track team for short sprinters. My times for the 100 are around the 13.3 range. Being on multiple teams throughout my life, has helped me grow as a team player and I have learned how to cooperate well with others. I am known as one who get along with everyone and avoids confrontation as much as necessary. By playing on a college level team, I know I will continue to present my attributes as a leader, team player, and hard worker. In my opinion, all experiences in life, allow growth for a person, and my hope is to continue to grow both as a student and an athlete.
