Personal Statement
2016 High School season. District champs for the fourth year. 3rd year I have 1st team all-district. 1st team all state. District Player of the Year.
I have videos of my high school season if anyone is interested, please contact me.
This spring 2016 club season we made it the to playoffs and had a must win game to get into the semi-finals. We had one player red carded just 10 minutes into the game, so we played short one and kept them to 3-2. With just eight minutes left, I moved up to striker. I had the ball three times, scored the tying goal from the field and had an assist for what should have been the winning goal, but they called in out of the net saying their keeper had control of the ball.
High School season, 2016, I was captain. We were for the fourth year district champions. I was named district player of the year on top of being my third year on 1st team all-district. I played mid, striker and wing this year and was my teams second highest scorer. We made it to the state playoffs, where I returned to defense. I also scored my teams only goal.
The 2016 High School season I scored 17 goals and had 11 assists. Considering I have played defense since I was 9 1/2, I think it says a lot about my understanding of the game, my athletic abilities as well as how I take coaching directions.
Soccer is my life, I have been playing since I was six years old. I loved the sport since I started playing on an AYSO team, but loved it even more when I switched to a competitive team. I am a naturally very competitive person; I do better under pressure and game situations. Some of the skills I am good at include heading the ball and winning the ball out of the air. I also take Penalty Kicks for my team. I play defense mainly, preferably outside defense, but I also play midfield or striker in situations when a goal is needed.
Academically, I strive to keep good grades. I have a 4.4 weighted GPA while taking Honors, AP and Dual Credit classes. I am currently 9th in my class at Albuquerque High school, and was at the best high school in New Mexico, AIMS@UNM for my freshman and sophomore years. I am currently taking my seventh dual enrollment college course.
I am a competitive person all around. I give 100% to everything I do and it shows both in my grades and on the field. My soccer strengths are being in shape ( I outplay my opponent from whistle to whistle) and my speed. I win the ball out of the air, I tackle well and almost never get a penalty which limits opponents set plays. I use my speed to cut off angles and make shots most difficult. I have learned a lot in the last few years from my coach about playing the game mentally and am much more prepared to anticipate rather than react. I am also very aggressive. I often assist and score from defense. I also take most of the free kicks. I take all my teams PK's and haven't missed in years. I love defense. Outside D is my preferred position because gives me the opportunity to move further up the field and be part of the play, but I also like Center Defense.
I will go to college because of my academics, but would love to play soccer in college. I am determined and will be a great asset on any team I become part of.
I am involved with my church youth group and volunteering. I have also volunteered at placed like AYSO, Muscular Dystrophy, VA Hosptial Spinal Cord Injury Unit, our local food bank, and a youth ranch, putting in at least 15 hours per semester for the last 10 semestsers.
I'm not sure yet what I'd like to major in, but probably Science or Math as I like both of those. Maybe a teacher, Pharmacists, Science or Mathematics fields, Sports Medicine or Psychology.
What sets me apart is my drive, and that I can play multiple positions very well, and that I assist and score from all positions on the field and from set plays. If you saw me in practice you would think I was a good player, but if you see me in a game, the choices I make and moves I accomplish show that I am an exceptional player. These traits make me unique and I hope that you will come see me play.
