Personal Statement
During my prep season this last fall, I learned a lot about overcoming challenges and exceeding expectations. I go to a small high school in New Mexico, and this last season, my team hired a new coach for the first time in twenty years. Our team was very young and had a very rough start. However, as the season went on, we made it our goal to win our last ten games before the state tournament so we could get the third seed. We accomplished this, and I learned so much more about hard work and dedication than I ever have in a season of soccer. I have been very dedicated to soccer since middle school, and my family has been generous enough to make the two hour commute to Albuquerque practices that I have the opportunity to play at a higher level of soccer. But since my last high school season, I've never been able to experience a significant reward to that dedication.
I am looking for a program that will fit me athletically as well as academically. I am a very dedicated student, and I hope to continue being involved in honors programs and high level classes throughout my college career. I believe that I have the talent to play at the college level, but more importantly the work-ethic, character and leadership skills as well. I would love to be given the chance to not only play at the college level, but the chance to improve and become an even better soccer player.
