Coaches,
One of my main collegiate goals or aspirations is to play at a division one or two school and become successful at that level. I also wish to further my skills and knowledge to become a better player. I am always determined to better my skills and at some point everyday I have a ball at my feet. In everything I do I try my best and am constantly looking for ways to improve myself. During practices and games I always keep a positive attitude and learn from every situation. I usually play a forward or striker position where I can shoot and pass using both feet equally. On every team I have played for I have been the top goal scorer and have had a high number of assists as well. My tenth grade season I was pulled up on varsity and was the teams starting striker. I was leading the region for most amount of points and selected as a Genesee Region All Star. I was also chosen as a Section V All star and invited to go to Europe and play. I am the type of player who has the mind set of never giving up even when we are down a goal or two. I have also been coached by professional soccer players Ernesto Donoso from Chile and Georgios Kyriazis from Greece.
Other sports I am involved in are varsity track & field, varsity cheerleading, and horseback riding. In track, I compete in sprints, some middle distance, and jumping events. I have won many regional and sectional titles since eighth grade. I qualified for states in the 100m and the 4x100m relay for the past 2 years. Our relay placed second in our division and ninth over all in States. The summer before, my twin sister and I competed in the Junior Olympics for the 4x400m relay Atlantic regionals in Delaware, which qualified us to go to the national competition in Maryland. At nationals, we placed ninth overall in the nation. I take academics very seriously and always make room for my homework and studying while participating in all my sports. For all of my years in high school, I have maintained an overall average that has stayed in the high 90s. This past year I had above a 95 average finishing out the year. In college I plan on studying animal sciences and zoology. I hope you take me into consideration.
Thank you for your time,
Maya Rutland
