Personal Statement

My name is Athena Velazquez. I go to Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, but I play soccer for Woodland Hills Senior High School. I have been playing soccer since I was 7 years old. When I first started playing soccer, I did not think that soccer would mean so much to me as it does today. Over the years, I have started to develop a deep passion for soccer. Soccer means a lot to me and I have a desire to play collegiate level soccer. My goal is to go to college in Pittsburgh or in the East Coast area. I haven't decided what I want to major in college, but I have a really deep passion for writing. I love writing because it's a way of expressing myself just like soccer. When I play soccer, I express who I really am. Soccer is the only sport I have ever played. Soccer is part of my life and I word hard to put effort  to be a great player. Every day, I improve my skills in order to become a better player. I practice outside everyday just improving my skills and abilities. For example, I kick against the wall in order to improve my ball control. Also I practice my shooting as I have a goal net at home and run periodically in the neighborhood to improve my speed. Another way that I improve my abilities in the game is through watching professional soccer. Every time I watch professional soccer, I look at how professionals pass,  shoot, dribble, and how they are aware of the game. My goal is to become a great soccer player and athlete. My desire is to become a stronger, passionate, and better player. Also my goal is to play professionally. My goal is to have a solid education and to play at a highly competitive school. Soccer is my whole life and without it, I wouldn't be the girl I am today.
