Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Johnna Shank! I am 17 years old and a senior at Exeter Township Senior High School (Reading, PA). Although I am left-handed, I am not only left-footed; I can adjust to a play and use either foot, whether shooting on goal or clearing a ball. I started playing soccer when I was five. In the past, I have played as an outside defender for the FC Revolution Blackhawks and have played with them since U10. Last year, 2013, we won States and went on to play in Regionals. In 2011, we went to the National Disney Showcase and placed first, and participated in it again in 2014. Due to a low number of players for FC Revolution, I am now playing for the Rage Blackhawks. I have high hopes for our team. As for my high school team, I am an outside midfielder. I have been starting varsity since freshman year. During my sophomore year, I led my high school team with 15 goals, and 4 assists. I also received All-County 2nd Team Midfielder and All Division 1, my sophomore year. My junior year I was voted Offensive Player of the Year.
As for my academics, I hold a 3.8 GPA, with all honors and AP classes. I strive to do my very best in school on a daily basis. Although I have not yet decided on a major, I have an interest in Chemistry, Psychology, and Art. Along with my school work, I do have many friends, participate in a few clubs, and also enjoy holding a job. I enjoy helping the community in my spare time, whether it be walking dogs for the Humane Society, helping out at the Elementary Schools' play days, or working at the high school concession stand for other sports events. I would love to continue playing soccer during my college years. I look forward to meeting new friends and enjoying a new experience in college.
