Personal Statement
Hi coach!
My name is McKenna Kelley and am currently a junior at Dallastown Area High School in York, PA. I am proud to say I am a dual varsity athlete, competing in both soccer and basketball at the varsity level. As I look to the future, my goal is to play at the college level because I know I have not reached my potential yet. While I believe I have been blessed with athletic ability, I believe my work ethic is what sets me apart from the competition. I love to compete and look for the right college fit (academics & athletics). I hope to find a great coaching staff who I can learn from, will push me to reach the next level. And most important, I want to find awesome teammates to play for -- who will help me achieve my dream of becoming an great NCAA student athlete.
This year I set my mind on starting at right defensive back for my HS team because I knew if given the chance, I could help the team accomplish a lot. As it turned out, I earned the job and was part of a four player back line, and played nearly every minute of all 21 games! All four defenders on our back line were recognized by York County Coaches with All-County Team honors. Dallastown's team record was 15-5-1. We finished as YAIAA Division I Champions and qualified 8th in District III Tournament. I am proud that I helped lock down the defense and score 4 goals and had 3 assists on the season. I was also honored with Second Team All-County and my coaches presented me with the team's Unsung Hero award at our year end banquet. And maybe my most memorable award is when my upperclassmen teammates honored me with their annual Leadership award.
