I can not remember a time when I did not love playing soccer. I played it in Ethiopia where I was born, and have continued to play it here in America. Soccer has been a constant throughout my life and the one thing that has given me my competitive edge. I have devoted my childhood to soccer because it is something I have always known.
When I left Ethiopia to come to America, I left everything behind. I left my family and all my belongings. Once in America, there was not much to connect me to my family other than soccer. It gave me a sense of belonging and was something I knew. Everything else in my life was new to me because I was only seven and had no knowledge of America or English.
I have been in America for ten years and have accomplished many things. Through dedication and hard work, I have skipped a grade, kept a GPA of 4.0, and been accepted into the gifted program, all while playing soccer. As a senior, graduating soon, I have many goals for my future. Among all the goals I have created, there is one goal that is the most important to my family and me. My goal is to further my education, all while playing soccer. I am ready to go to a college at which I can get my degree while contributing to their soccer team.
