Personal Statement
My journey as a soccer player started about fourteen years ago when my parents enrolled me in a local youth soccer team. At the time, they had no idea that it would become one of the most important aspects of my life. Growing up, players such as Alex Morgan, my biggest inspiration, and her teammates have played a major role in my dedication to soccer. They have helped shape soccer into more than just a sport, but an outlet that I always know will be there.
Like most, my journey down this path has not been easy. In the summer of 2015 I underwent an ACL reconstruction surgery. Rehabilitation was going well until two months in, I suffered a conussion which left me out of school and three months behind on my long recovery. People often asked me if I was planning to return to the sport, and I was astounded that was even an option. I knew, no matter what happened, that I would play again one day.
Two years later, I'm playing injury-free and stronger than ever. I've been able to watch myself improve tremendously as a player and as a person through the strong values and disciplines this sport teaches-patience, perserverence, dedication, and teamwork. While continuing the sport in college has always been a dream of mine, academics take priority when it comes to my future. The many fields of STEM have attracted me since a young age and I plan on continuing through a challenging (yet fun!) four years of college.
