This year (2019) my high school team had high expectations going into state playoffs. We had just broken records for our school’s girls soccer program. We placed first in our region, got home playoff games, and beat our rival region team twice. When we got to the third round of state playoffs, something not accomplished by our program in at least 15 years, we lost a hard battle 3-2 in overtime. It was after the game when I realized that I didn’t just love to play soccer because I was good at it or because it was fun or because we won, but that I loved it for all the connections and relationships I’ve made by just playing a game. I want to play college soccer so I can keep playing the game I love and meeting people who will be teammates for a lifetime.
