Personal Statement
COMMITTMENT. I am Laurel Iorio-Ronek, and I am one of the most committed players you will meet. 4 to 6 times a week I drive to Atlanta GA from Chattanooga TN to train with my Tophat DA team. This will take me about 2 hours each way- a total of 4 hours a day I spend in the car. I never want to EVER miss a practice no matter how far away it is.
Spending this much time on the road makes me really have to focus on getting my homework done. Baylor is a challenging school and does not give me any special treatment for my club team requirements. I still have to get my homework done even if my practice was all fitness and we did the beep test twice.
There are teams closer to me in Tennessee but nothing that will get me to my goal of playing college soccer like Tophat will. This is why I am willing and excited about driving to Atlanta every day. I miss a lot of social events with my friends in Chattanooga, but my future in soccer is more important to me than what I miss.
