Personal Statement
Being homeschooled, I have never been able to play on any one team for more than two years. My coaches (always volunteer) and teammates have come and gone, and I have had to adjust several times, but I have always adjusted effectively. As a freshman, I began playing high school at both forward and outside midfield. After a fairly successful season, my coach departed, most of the starters graduated, and some other players quit, leaving the team to dissolve. I joined a recreational league the next fall, and the following spring I joined our rival homeschool team, where I started each game as an outside midfielder. We began our fall season strongly, but our level of play tapered off considerably toward the end due to a variety of factors. This year, with a new coach, new vision, new formation, and new expectations, we have begun a new era. I have slowly transitioned from the offensive side of the ball to more defensive, playing stopper in a 3-2-4-1, but also able to fill in anywhere on our half of the pitch. With renewed strategy and commitment level, we hope to have a successful 2017 campaign.
Along with soccer, I have been a part of a very successful homeschool basketball team for ten years, winning national championships at every age level. This past season I played junior varsity and was a part of the varsity team as the statistician. As always, I am willing to do whatever I need to do to aid in the success of my team, whether for basketball, soccer, church, and wherever else I can make an impact. I would love the chance to continue my career in college, wherever the Lord takes me.
