Heather Byrne '14 Recruiting Profile

My name is Heather Byrne, I am 6 feet tall, 145 lbs, and I am extremely passionate about playing soccer at the next level. I have been the varsity starting keeper for Stephen F. Austin, a 5A high school, since I was a freshman and have been elected to be on 1st Team All-District all 3 years along with All-District Defensive MVP this past high school season in a 5A district. I am currently enrolled in competitive soccer club teams such as Eclipse and Albion and have been for a multitude of years. I am not only a goalie but also have field experience as a center defender and center midfielder. Along with soccer, I have simultaneously played basketball at a varsity and club level since my freshman year.

In addition to an athletic career, I have pursued an excellent academic career as well. I was recognized to be Academic All-District and have received the Academic Excellence Award all 3 years. I am currently enrolled in honors and AP courses along with participating in National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. Also I qualified as a Grade 8 FIFA referee and refereed for several seasons. I have not specifically narrowed my major down and am keeping an open mind for all types of colleges/universities.

As a highly competitive multi-sport athlete I take pride in my team and lead by example on and off the field or court with strong communication skills. I was named team captain this past year for basketball, and was played an integral part in my soccer team's team bonding.  I am a source of encouragement and inspiration to my teammates and classmates.  My goal for soccer is to be an integral part of my soccer team starting as a freshman.
